A Buenos Aires Photoshoot with Flytographer

On my recent trip to Argentina, a friend of mine (Kayla from Curatedbykayla.com) recommended I try out Flytographer, a service that lets you hire a local photographer in the city you are visiting. I have been quite lucky in my past travels having friends that will gladly take my photos for me, or I've come across friendly strangers that will oblige when I ask them to snap as many photos as possible as I hand them my camera and run several meters away to spin and twirl my skirt in front of a doorway, landmark, or other point of scenery. In some destinations if the situation allows I've even used a tripod and wireless remote to take my travel photos. I didn't have any of the above options available to me for a few reasons: 1. I was tagging along my boyfriend's business trip to Buenos Aires and he was busy during daylight hours, and 2. Many people advised me that Buenos Aires has a reputation for pick-pocketing and I didn't think it was a good idea to hand a stranger my camera no matter how trustworthy they looked, or leave it unattended on a tripod in a crowded street.

Flytographer sounded like my best option (and only) for capturing high quality photos to commemorate my trip to Buenos Aires, and I was impressed by the efficiency of the shoot, the images, and every step of the booking process.

How it Works

Built on a platform similar to Airbnb, Flytographer allows you to search photographers within a specific city, view their portfolios, and schedule a photoshoot during your trip. Once you put in a request, Flytographer's concierge will contact you to set you up with your requested photographer based on availability.

Flytographer is available in over 200 cities worldwide, and the photographers are easy to work with whether you have a specific vision in mind or would rather leave it up to them to direct the shoot and create awesome vacation photos. My photographer, Amelia, and I made a great team- she helped me execute the particular style of photography I was looking for and we were able to knock out several different locations in the Palermo Soho neighborhood of Buenos Aires during the 30 minute shoot. By being a local, Amelia had great insight and made suggestions of the neighborhood where we would shoot based on the types of inspiration I had in mind.

If you are a traveler, definitely consider using Flytographer on your next trip and commemorate your travels with a unique souvenir. If you are a photographer, consider joining Flytographer's team in your city by visiting their site here!
